Whistleblowing update – who can a worker blow the whistle to?

The Department of Business, Innovation, Skills published its updated list of prescribed persons earlier this week. This details those persons or bodies that a worker wishing to blow the whistle may make a disclosure to rather than their own employer.

Disclosures made to any one on this list will only garner protection for the worker provided the other requirements of a “protected disclosure” have been satisfied.

Whilst this document will be most relevant to workers looking to make disclosures, employers should nevertheless be aware of those individuals or bodies relevant to the regulation of their respective sectors as outlined in the guidance.
